I helped out my friends at The Red Bee last night at a Back to School Crop and was inspired in many ways.

First, I must say that I am very sad that two more of our LSS stores Srappin' in the Hills and The Red Bee are closing their doors. It just hurts all over again. Part of me wishes I could have fought harder for The Table but still I know that the environment of this economy would not allow me to make it. Just not enough able buyers. The hobby is strong but the ability to purchase is just not there as it once was. So I wish my friends all the best in their future endeavors. You will be missed!!
So I was thinking that this little blog has been so neglected and sad lately and I don't want to let it go. I thought about some of the things I wanted to do on here before the store closed. Fun challenges, scrap room fun, braggin' about what my scrappin' and craftin' friends have been up to.

Maybe I should go first and post pictures of the craziness that is my scrappin' table and room! hmmm...

Football kicks off today, which means lots of Sundays at home with the family. I don't watch football so I will just get crafty instead!

Hi there friends!
How is everyone doing? Are you getting ready for National Scrapbooking Day? What do you have planned? Can you believe I won't be doing anything for the day!!! I know, I am so bummed. I guess I will just be blaring my music in my art room at home and scrappin' away! Please post all of your plans here!

Autism Speaks Crop and FUNdraiser

Hi there I am passing on this information to an event my friend Christine puts on every year. I will be attending I would love to see you there too!

Hi friends in blog land, as many of you know, I have a son with Autism. My son, Adam, has Asperger's syndrome, a high funcitioning form of autism. Evey year my team, We Can, and I walk for Autism Speaks. I hold many fundraisers to raise money towards my walk. My most successful fundraiser is my annual crop. This year my crop will again be held at The Scrapbook Oasis in Irvine CA. on Sat. April 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is only $30, which includes 8 hours of cropping, lunch, snacks, a generous goody bag for every cropper, raffle prizes and a silent auction. Thank you Karen for continuing to open your store to me!!!!

Mark your calendars because me and some of my crafty friends are having a SALE you won't want to miss! As you might know I've been teaching scrapbooking and papercraft classes for four years now (wow! I can't believe it's been that long!) Being a teacher means I buy and use stuff in BULK QUANTITY. I usually try to cull the inventory a few times a year, but it's been awhile since I've given it a good thinning so I decided to host a flea market!

I've got some other crafty peeps & teachers selling at this event, so I'm expecting a good variety of stuff. Some of it will be new in package, some nearly new or gently used. There will be kits, tools, alterables, and who knows what else. There may be some newer releases in the mix along with older lines (who knows, we may just have that now hard-to-find item you've been searching for!) You can be sure, though, that everything we sell will be in good, usable condition.

I just wanted to let everyone know that all of the special orders (Copic Markers etc) are all due to arrive any day now. All classes will continue as planned. Our scheduled closing date is on or arround March 30. I encourage you to come in and use all store credits and gift cards. The decision I am about to announce is one that will make me sad for the rest of my life but it has to be made. I am closing The Scrappin' Table. This week has been a whirlwind. I'm still in shock over so many of the events. I am not sure how long it will take me to recover. I'm sorry to those customers who walked in on me in the past few days and saw the tears. You were so kind.

My life has been so blessed. I've been such a lucky girl! I've had so many people around that have given so much to me. The most important things you have given me is your love, friendship and support. Some have done so without ever wavering. To you that have stuck by me even when it wasn't easy, THANK YOU! To those that couldn't, I still appreciate you and the times we spent together. The Scrappin' Table has brought you into my life, I am so glad our paths have crossed. Everyday I walked through that door with a smile and happiness in my heart because of you. When I opened the store I was advised not to make it personal. If you know me, you know that really wasn't an option for me. Every customer that I helped, every other store owner who passed on their wisdom, every designer that came here to teach or who did wonderful layouts, every friend I worked with, you all made an impact on my heart. I will never forget those moments we shared. I'll remember the Friday Fun Crops, the group crops, Book Club, ATC Club, the many fun classes...and overall just the fun you brought into my life.
When my husband and I met with my landlord I never expected the options he would give us. He has offered us something that we really can't pass on.

The store opened to fantastic growth, but when the fires hit our area and the economy fell, we were hit so hard. I am just now seeing some improvement, but it just hasn't come in time for The Scrappin' Table. We are still looking at a future of economic recovery that I just don't think I can wait out and I know my family can't.
My family is of course the most important thing to me. My girls love the store and they honestly haven't suffered (actually quite the opposite). However, I can't take a chance on their future by continuing with my dream. My time devoted to the store has taken so much from my husband. He is a wonderful man but it isn't fair to keep taking so much.

A Special Message to some special people!

Tiffany: I remember the trip to Ikea with Brooke and Tyler helping us load up all the tables, legs, and chairs for the store. That was such a fun day. I remember sitting on the wood floor of the empty store and dreaming all the possibilities together. We had big plans didn't we!! Thanks for being my right hand for so long and keeping me focused at CHA! Thank you!

Heather: I could always count on you, not only for your help but for the perfect sarcasm you could bring to every situation. If you know how Heather and I used to banter you know that I mean that as the biggest compliment!!! You above anyone were able to make me laugh. And not to mention you can pick out the perfect Bazzill color cardstock from across the room! Thank You!

Jhoana: You always said yes to me. I don't think I ever heard a no. You were so good to my girls in the early days when they had to be at the store with me. You are such a wonderful talented designer and you have always been a customer favorite! I am the luckiest owner to have you working at my store. And someday I hope to get that dancing lesson you always talk about. {wink wink} Thank You!

Cindy: Another person who has been with me since the beginning. What would I have done without you all this time? You could always talk my ear off even when I had to hurry about. I could count on you for updates on all the activities of the scrapbooking world and you always had a new idea for me to try! Even after moving all the way to Corona you still stuck with the store!! Thank You!

Lorella: My display/merchandising guru! You came in running and never stopped! You make the store look fabulous. I always knew that if I was coming in after your shift I would have to take a tour of the floor to know where everything was. You always kept the store looking fresh. Your level head and ongoing support means the world to me! Thank You!

Autumn: You weren't with us for very long but you continue to come in and support me in any way I ask! You are such a busy woman with 5 kiddos but you're always are able to sneak in for a quick hello and smile! Thank You!

JennK: I had to write it like that just for old time sake. You were so happy to finally get to drop the "K". It's hard though, I think we all still call you "JennK". I remember unpacking adhesive with you with our first shipment. How funny that was!!! Thanks for the help in the beginning and all of the DT help. Thank You!

To each of the Design Team Members over the years: Luanne, Tiffany, Michelle, Anne, Tammy, Shari, Dianna, Jenn K, Erika, Jhoana, Lola, and most recently Chelle. Just wanted to show you what my book cover ended up looking like. Hopefully you can open the attachment. Hello and Goodbye

The Scrappin' Table must say a goodbye.
Dianna has been our exclusive card designer and has inspired all of us at the store and I know many of you as well. Her cards, little boxes, and special projects always caught everyone's eye! Lucky for everyone she will still be creating and blogging so we won't have to go far to be inspired by her. The projects may not be in person at the store but I know Di will keep us amazed!
Dianna took over doing the blog for me a few months ago and has been doing a terrific job. It's been such a huge help to me and a great thing for our customers to keep up on all the latest happenings! And...after a wonderful conversation with her a few nights ago she has so graciously agreed to continue to help me out and blog all the way from North Carolina! Thanks so much Di! You will continue to be such a wonderful part of our Scrappin' Table family here!
I will miss so many things about Di. Her creative talent, her smile and fun personality and most of all her weekly Wednesday visits with her daughter to the store. I know her path may have taken her out of California but it will never take her out of our hearts. Sooo...Miss Di, until our next phone call and NOT goodbye!

The Scrappin' Table says Hello!
Meet Chelle. We are so excited to have this wonderful and talented girl join our design team. Chelle is a Copic Certified (and self proclaimed crazy for these markers) Instructor! The Scrappin' Table has been selling these markers for some time and now we can all learn what cool things we can do with them. Chelle has a stamping background and will be leading the charge in that area at the store! Yeah!!! She will be inspiring us in Copic, cards, stamping, scrapbooking and I have a feeling that this warm friendly creative girl has much more in store for us too!

We have her first event scheduled this Wednesday December 16th 6-9 pm ...Copic Cafe $8. Call or come in to reserve your spot. This will be a great addition to our other club activities at The Table. Journaling Tags...
I have a ton of these cute journaling tags that I adore. I am always using them on pages and projects but I still have lots of them left over. A friend, Michelle Lanning, had heard of an idea for journaling tags. She told me she had seen someone make a jar and keep it handy for when her kids said something funny or just for writing something down as it happens. We both laughed that we just don't remember things like we used to or thought we would. So after she left I got crafty with some tags we have at the store. My Little Shoebox makes a 12x12 sheet of tags, borders and embellishments. This is what I made, it was super easy and fun!

Products used: Chocolate brown alphas and mini alphas are from Pink Paislee, turquoise grosgrain ribbon, Kaiser Craft flower, My Little Shoebox: tags, Butterflies (really photo corners) and the border along the bottom of the jar, Bazzill Cardstock.

Title reads: my kids say the funniest things.

Upper tag reads: random quotes of the day.

Tell us about yourself: I am Cindy, I started scrapbooking when my kids were in high school. I love putting the pictures to the pages and being creative with what I could see.

What is your favorite part about working for The Scrappin' Table? I love working at The Scrappin' Table because of the beautiful layout ideas I get from the wonderful design team.

Who is your favorite manufacturer? I don't have a favorite brand it is usually just what is available at the time I am scrappin.

Who do you scrapbook with? I have a scrapbook buddy, Laurie who we trade ideas with and love to go on scrapbook hunts for something we need. I also love to scrapbook with my daughter Lyndsey and my nieces Ashley and Stephanie, who I let use all my leftovers so I'don"t feel so guilty with all the stuff I buy!!!!!!!!

What is your favorite part about working for The Scrappin' Table? Meeting new people everyday, the beautiful layouts from the design team that always inspires me, and I love to use the gun to price items!

What is your most fun time at The Table group crops? When I crop it's usually a reunion so its nice to see people I haven't seen in a long time.

How long have you been crafting? I would have to say almost 10 years and I only remembered that because it was when I liked N'SYNC and I would scrap my pictures with Joey Fatone!

Who is your favorite manufacturer? October Afternoon, Sassafras, lately Cosmo Cricket, and really anything cute and new. I change my mind all the time.

Who do you scrapbook with? Flowers, bling, letters...it just depends on what im working on.

What embellishments do you like to use? Anybody who wants to scrap with me.

Do you have any organization or time saving tips you would like to share? Honestly I love Tammy I's trunk!!! I'm able to put so many of my embellishments so I can easily see it and also transport it everywhere.

Tell us about yourself: I have 2 children who are growing up so fast. I feel so thankful and lucky to be their mom! I want more then anything for them to have a happy and memorable childhood. Every event they do is special to me so I love taking tons of pictures and scrapbooking those memories for them. I love spending time with my amazing and supportive parents and extended family. I also love traveling and keeping busy!

What is your favorite part about working for The Scrappin' Table? I love working for The Scrappin’ Table because in my opinion scrapbookers are awesome people to be around! They are passionate crafty people who clearly cherish their memories. Our customers and employees are happy and excited to see all of the latest and greatest treasures when they walk through the front door.

How long have you been crafting? I’ve been involved with so many hobbies through the years…from basket weaving – to photography to ceramics- too many to list! I was raised by artistic parents who are very passionate and involved once they take on a hobby. I also have brothers, aunts and uncles who are fanatic’s once they take on a hobby; so that’s why I tell myself it’s not my fault I’m so obsessed with scrapbooking – the “hobby obsession” is in my genes!!

Who is your favorite manufacturer? I’m not hooked on any one particular manufacturer. I buy whatever line or manufacturer sends that thrilling buzz through my veins!

Who do you scrapbook with? I will scrapbook with any scrapper who will sit next to me! I have met so many amazing and sweet ladies; too many to mention! When you come to a crop everyone is so friendly and happy to be spending time away from home doing what they love.

What embellishments do you like to use? I love all types of embellishments. Sometimes they can be overwhelming to me, but the layouts in the store made by the awesome design team are so helpful. The ladies are so creative and know just how to make them a great addition to your special pictures. I’m all about “scrap-lifting” and I’m not at all ashamed!

Do you have any organization or time saving tips you would like to share? Part of the fun with scrapbooking is all the fun ways to organize your treasures. My absolute favorite organizational thing is the Clip-It-Up. It holds an amazing amount of things and it doesn’t take up very much space. I have most of my ribbons on the top tier (sooo pretty!) and all of the other fun embellishments on the bottom.

What is your most fun time at The Table group crops? The most fun time at table crops is when we all get together and have potlucks and just laugh about silly stuff...and crop too.

How long have you been crafting? I have been crafting since I had my babies...3 years.

Who do you scrapbook with? I scrapbook with my crop buddies, usually once a month.

The shipment arrived this morning and Michelle is putting the two newest Basic Grey collections out right now! Both collections have paper and the ever-popular Element Stickers. They also have three new embellishments: Woolies, Pops and Take Note. Woolies are coordinating layered felt stickers with buttons, rhinestones and stitched accents. Pops are coordinating layered cardstock stickers that are acid & lignin free. Take Note are four printed, die-cut transparencies with matching die-cut cardstock journaling blocks that are acid & lignin free.

Do you collect anything other than paper & supplies? hmmmmm...i used to collect shot glasses while growing up, but that's slowed down...Matthew and i collect those pressed pennies from the machines you have to crank. :)

When and how did you get into scrappin'? i have always enjoyed all kinds of crafts since my mom is a big time crafter! she can make just about anything! :) i probably started scrapping in college which was a transition from making collage boards filled with pictures of friends and other memorabilia. :)

What is your preferred scrappin' format? (12x12, 8.5x11, cards, etc): i primarily make 12x12 layouts, but i enjoy designing mini books and home decor, too! :)

How would you describe your scrappin' style? i would describe my scrappy style as being organized, dimensional, clean, balanced and uncluttered.

What is one scrappin' tool, you can't live without? adhesive tape runner...but i Love all kinds of adhesives!!! some of my favorites are kokuyo, tombow and my newest pink & green, glue glider pro...Love it!!! :) if adhesive doesn't count, than i'd probably pick my crop-a-dile. :)

Who is your favorite manufacturer? hmmmmmmm...that's a hard one...there are sooooooo many!!! :)

Do you have any organization or time saving tips you would like to share? I like to group lot’s of my scrap supplies by color and items. This really seems to work great for me. I also think if you can see you… you will use it, but I like to see my scrap supplies in a very organized and pretty way.

When and how did you get into scrappin'? I started scrapbooking when I was really young maybe around eight or so. I would get my pictures and any memorabilia from where I visited and cut it all up real cute and glue it to paper and add little notes about what I loved about the place or trip. It was in my blood!

Tell us about your family: I've been married to Erick, the love of my life, for 16 years. We have two gorgeous and energetic kids: Wesley is our 12 year old student of Tae Kwon Do and Ainsley is our 2 year old gymnast.

Favorite Movie: Pride & Prejudice and Gone With the Wind are my two favorite movies of all time.

Favorite Book: Pride & Prejudice is by far my favorite book. I have a stack of books on the floor that I've read numerous times and will read again. There are two new books on the nightstand just waiting to be read when I finish my current book. I love recommendations, do you have any?

Do you have a hobby other than scrappin'? Occasionally, I get in the garage for some woodworking. I've built a handful of furniture pieces and have turned some candlesticks and a bowl on a wood turning lathe. I used to make jewelry. I made a few bracelets recently and want to get back into it. I just need to find the time.

Do you collect anything other than paper & supplies? I inherited my grandmother's collection of delft bleu. If you're not familiar with it, it's the blue & white pottery from the Netherlands. I love to search antique stores to find unusual pieces for my collection. It's very important to me, as it is a representation of my dutch heritage. I also collect carousel horses. My dad started my collection when I was a little girl.

Scrappin' Stuff:

When and how did you get into scrappin'? I've always done some form of paper craft. When I was little, I made sure that everyone around me had a bookmark that I colored and finished with a tassel from my grandmothers stash of yarn. I started making cards with rubber stamps and sketches of flowers in junior high. I made my own wedding invitations and cards for special occasions. While enjoying my other hobbies, I always seemed to go back to making cards. I've been seriously making cards for about two years.

What is your preferred scrappin' format (12x12, 8.5x11, cards, etc)? My passion is cards. They are gift in and of themselves.

How would you describe your scrappin' style? I was recently asked that question, I would have to say that my style is simple, yet elegant. But don't be surprised when I get carried away and layer embellishments all over the place.

What is one scrappin' tool, you can't live without? My paper cutter. It is a multi-purpose tool! I can measure, cut and score paper easily without having to take out five or more tools.

Who is your favorite manufacturer? Graphic 45 is my all-time favorite. I also favor Cosmo Cricket, Basic Grey and K & Company.

Do you have any organization or time saving tips you would like to share? Erick has teased that I'm related to Pigpen from the Peanuts. With that said, I'm not the best person to ask about organization, as I look at the itty bitty scraps of paper and some glitter on the floor. I try my best to clean the table top at the end of the day, even if I'm not done with the project. I need to vacuum now!

Tell us about your family: I am a lucky and proud Mom of two awesome kiddos! My son Tyler will be 14 soon and starting high school in the fall....WOW!!! My sweet girl Brooke will be 9 soon and heading to 4th grade. Both are very active and keep me on the go.....either at the ball fields, dance studio or in the backyard playing basketball or jumping on the trampoline. I am so blessed!!!!

When and how did you get into scrappin'? Of course this answer is probably the same for most........after i had my son Tyler! You can't get enough pictures of them......putting them in a book to pass on is such an honor.......they love it!!!

12x12......i love this size because you not only can get more photos or larger photos but you have more room to play with the "art" of scrapping as well. Once it a while 8.5x11 is good too tho!!

How would you describe your scrappin' style?
I like the fact that i don't stick to just one style.......i like to mix it up. Some or simple and some are filled with a ton of fun stuff!!! Just depends on the story i am trying to tell.

What is one scrappin' tool, you can't live without? black fine tip pen........i love to doodle and of course you have to journal!!!!!

Who is your favorite manufacturer? Oh, boy this is a tough one..........hmmmm - i'd have to say Jennie Bowlin!!! But i love so many!!!!

The spotlight is on Michelle!

Hi my name is Michelle and I love my job! Can something I love so much be called a job? It seems really unfair to give it that label. I am a people person and love to talk, engage, and learn about the lives of my friends/customers. My favorite thing is when a customer comes in and they are so surprised that I remember them by name. I really try hard to connect with everyone that stops by The Scrappin’ Table. After many years working for such customer service oriented companies like Godiva Chocolatier and Tourneau Watch Gear, it’s really just natural for me.

Personal Stuff:

I am the lucky mom to Jessa and Lauren. They are two wonderful girls that bring sunshine and happiness to my life every single day. Oh yeah they drive me nuts sometimes…but what would I scrapbook if they were just perfect all the time? Lauren loves to paper craft. She cuts and uses Modge Podge to create works of art! She is also my photographer girl, she has her own digital camera and takes about 40 pictures a week on average. She loves to come to the store to pull hooks, price, and do some displays. Jessa is more of an artsy girl. She is convinced I need an “art supply” section. She will tell you she doesn’t scrapbook but she does pick out pictures and place them on 12x12 paper and adds a bit of journaling. She loves to draw and write stories. You’ll sometimes catch them at the store with me. They both love to chat too!

I am married to Mike, my husband of 16 years. He’s not around the store much but will often be seen on Saturdays bringing me lunch! He showed me lots of support when the store first opened. He is a great dad and steps up on the weekends so that I can do my thing at the store.

My favorite movie of all time is the classic A&E version of Pride and Prejudice. I have watched it so many times that I can quote the movie as I watch. I have the series on my itouch now and will watch it little every night!
Do I have any hobbies other than scrapbooking? Do Facebook, Twitter, and BlipFm count? I love reconnecting with friends from past, present, and making new friends too! These are just a perfect fit for me.

I collect cake plates. I love cake plates! I love a table set with frilly tablecloths and cakes plates of all different styles filled with pastries, desserts and all things yummy! The really pretty girly ones that stack are my favorite. Tiffany got me started on collecting the wire dress forms also. You’ll see the collection in the store.

Scrappin' Stuff:

I started scrapping many years ago as a teen. Back then it was a different kind of scrapbook. I had the all paper journal type albums that I filled with photos, memorabilia, ticket stubs etc. I started scrapbooking as we know it today about 14 years ago. I got into it heavily after my dad died and I realized it was really therapeutic for me to scrap pictures of him and I when I was a kid.

I do albums for my girls and family in 12x12 format. I also love doing mini albums. I never thought I would like little chipboard books but after seeing a video of Michelle Hill and her basket of mini books…I just had to give it a try!
Do I really have to list my favorite manufacturers???…that is so hard for me!!! Ok here I go…Fancy Pants, Jenni Bowlin, My Little Shoebox, Scenic Route, Heidi Grace (yes in small amounts!!).

I am the messiest, “spreadiest” scrapper ever! I must confess I will encroach onto your side of the table if you let me! I don’t have any organization tips other than my great LOVE of the Clip It Up!!! I think everyone should have at least one in their scrap space. I will defer all organization questions to Tammy Inman and Jennifer Priest. They both seem to have it down.

In closing, I would just say how very lucky I feel everyday that I get to open the doors to this happy scrappy place. In these tough times I am thankful for every customer and every day. I hope it’s a place that makes you happy and inspires you to create and document your life!

Friday July 3 : Let Freedom (AND SCRAPPIN') Ring! 10 AM to 10 PM **Join us for some scrappin' and craftin'!!! RED WHITE AND BLUE CROP! We'll have games, raffle prizes, and best dressed contest so come in your best red, white, and blue Uncle Sam get ups!! Saturday July 18: Summer LOVIN' Crop! 10 AM to 10 PM **60's Summer of Scrappin' Love! We'll have a groovy time scrappin' at 'The Table'. Come decked out in your 60's garb! Don't "flip your wig" cause it's about having a "groovy" time. Come "hang loose" with us. We'll have best costume (or is it?) contest, scrappin' drag race, Cut out and laying rubber game, and more. Sunday July 19: Mommy & Me Fun Crop! 11:00 am til 4:00 pm** Mommy and Me time at The Scrappin' Table. 5 Hours of scrapbooking time with you and your little one. (ages 5 and up) . There will be a 5x5 panel make n take that you both can make together. We will have snacks, sandwich lunches with drinks and chips served for lunch. $30* for 1 adult 1 child. Includes 2 lunches, 1 make in take project at 1 6ft table. Call store for details on additional guest.

Do you have a favorite adhesive and/or glue for your scrappin'? I sure do, it's the Zig 2 Way Glue (Squeeze & Roll). I love that I can use it for both temporary and permanent adhesion of paper and embellishments.
